“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Cor. 5:17). In Christ, the old has gone, the new has come. Most importantly, Christ has moved in. But in order to do so, your human spirit had to be regenerated—changed—to provide a place where He could move in. This is the “new creature” or creation. Obviously, your body has not been glorified to its new state, and your soul, though in the process of sanctification, is not yet completely new either. But your human spirit has been remarkably made new.

By being placed into Christ, including His death, your spirit is no longer joined to indwelling sin, the “sin that dwelleth in me” (Rom. 7:17). Your spirit was crucified with Christ and now is dead to (separated from) the old master of indwelling sin. While indwelling sin still seeks to operate in you at your body and soul levels, you are no longer joined to him. The relationship has been severed. Your human spirit died to sin, was raised with Christ, and has been creatively made new. It is described as “the seed [sperma] of God” (1 John 3:9). Amazing! Something of the very nature of God has been implanted in you. This is the “new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness” (Eph. 4:24). Your regenerated spirit is righteous and holy! It has to be—it is the seed of God. And it has to be, because this is where the Holy Spirit resides in the believer (Rom. 7:4). The old relationship with indwelling sin has been forever severed, and the new relationship with the indwelling Christ has been forever sealed.

This is the real you—righteous. Not merely declared righteous legally, but made righteous actually. “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (2 Cor. 5:21). Just as Jesus was “made…sin” for us—as a matter of actual fact, we are “made…righteousness” in Him—as a matter of actual fact. Amazing! It is not just positional truth; it is provisional truth that must be accessed by faith in order to be practical truth. But it is actual provision—your spirit is righteous. So give way to the real you!

You are not a loser. To think you are is the stronghold of the devil’s lie. In Christ you are a winner because you are a saint—a holy one. The “seed of God” is not a loser; it is righteous and holy. This is the real you that is joined to the real leader—the indwelling Christ. The real you wants Jesus, loves Jesus, worships Jesus, gives all to Jesus—so give way to the real you. Go past the noise of the devil’s lies, the noise of the soul, the clamor of the world and the flesh, and recognize the far deeper yearnings of your righteous spirit—the real you. Your real response to your real Leader is a righteous response. Take your provision, trusting the Spirit to enable you to obey. Give way to the real you.
