After Jesus led the women at the well to faith in Him, and she went into the city and then returned with a group of curious seekers, Jesus said to His disciples, “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest” (John 4:35).

Do we believe this? There are individuals within the sphere of your life and mine that the Holy Spirit, the Lord of the harvest, has been preparing and drawing. The active eye of faith knows this. When the Spirit burdens you for someone or nudges you to engage someone in gospel conversation, it’s because He is leading you into a divine appointment. Even if there is nothing on the surface to indicate a ready harvest, when the Spirit stirs and faith responds, then the Spirit works.

Years ago I spoke at a week long Singaporean church retreat  held in Malaysia. A church lady brought her Buddhist mother to the church camp. Early in the week, one of the Christian ladies witnessed to the Buddhist woman, but she showed no interest. However, the unsaved lady attended all the services that I preached throughout the week. The final night I emphasized the fields are white unto harvest. Later that evening, the Christian lady who had witnessed to the Buddhist lady sensed the Holy Spirit urging her to go talk to talk to her right then even though it was late. She obeyed in faith. When she knocked on the unsaved woman’s door in the hotel facility, the unsaved lady called out, “Come in.” When she opened the door and entered, the Buddhist lady recognized her as the one who had spoken to her earlier. She exclaimed, “Oh, come in! I’m white to harvest!” That night she put her faith in Jesus.

Recently, an evangelist friend texted me one morning that he and his wife had met a young mother with three children at an RV campground. It was obvious in the text that the Spirit had burdened them for this dear lady, since he mentioned they were asking the Lord for an opportunity to witness to her. That evening he texted that this young mother had trusted in Jesus about thirty minutes prior!

When is the last time you lifted up your eyes in faith to let the Spirit lead you into the white harvest? Since there is a white harvest, ask the Holy Spirit, the Lord of the harvest, to lead you into the ready harvest. In fact, Jesus commands this step of faith, “Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest” (Matthew 9:37-38).
