When I was a kid, I looked forward to Saturday morning cartoons. I liked one in particular because I love the underwater world, and this one had something to do with life in an underwater world in the year 2020. In the 1970s, it seemed so far away, but now we have crossed the threshold. It’s 2020. Are we prepared?

Vision

What’s your vision? If you haven’t done so already, ask the Lord for His vision for you. Before you can implement a plan, you must have one—a plan, a vision. Otherwise, you will likely end up drifting along, making little impact (Prov. 29:18). But we need more than human vision; we need that revelation of the divine will.

Faith

Besides vision from the Lord, we need faith to match the vision. Divine vision demands divine power, and divine power is accessed by faith. Without faith, it is not possible to please God (Heb. 11:6). With faith, it is possible.

Passion

Each of us also needs the passion of God ignited in the heart to take the steps of faith necessary to carry out His vision. Passion burns like a fire in the heart, driving us to accomplish our vision. It is the fuel necessary to achieve success. Passion comes from the Holy Spirit—the one who enables. With His empowering, we can be fervent in spirit, serving the Lord (Rom. 12:11).

As we bring in the new year, may we look expectantly to our sovereign God for His vision for our lives, faith to match that vision, and the passion to carry it out.
